President's Message

Welcome to the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists (ATHA)!

ATHA represents a diverse membership of thousands of fiber artists--and is prepared to represent every one of the more than 5,000 hookers creating artwork across the United States and the world. ATHA membership provides many opportunities to meet with other people of like interests to share ideas, resources, and friendships.

Every two years, rug-hooking artists meet at the ATHA Convention to promote learning and education about rug hooking. These Conventions are organized by the hard work of the ATHA Chapters and Regions selected by the National ATHA Board to host these events. Our next Convention will take place September 4-7, 2024, in Grapevine, TX, and is hosted by Region 9. This is an event that you will not want to miss!

Many of our members enjoy rug hooking with a local chapter and take advantage of the programs and activities offered locally. Look at the opportunities advertised in our magazine, “ATHA Art of Rug Hooking,” and plan to attend a rug-hooking camp. There are many camps to choose from--and much is learned from the teachers featured at these events.

Your ATHA membership includes a subscription to the ATHA magazine, which consists of six issues packed with color pictures, informative ideas on rug hooking, and articles submitted by our members on patterns, techniques, and rugs of interest to our readers. This is an outstanding publication that contains information about topics of interest to rug hookers of all skill levels. ATHA membership for U.S. residents is $32 per year, payable by PayPal or check, and, for those in Canada, is $34 per year, payable by PayPal.

We appreciate your support of ATHA and the rug-hooking community with all it has to offer. Share your knowledge with other members. Teach someone new to rug hook!  Spread the news about ATHA to others! Most of all, enjoy rug hooking!
